On Midsummer's Eve 1973, Annie and her daughter Mia are on their way to the isolated Stjärnberg commune to start a new life with her boyfriend Dan. On the way, she finds two people murdered in a tent. That same night, Johan runs away from home and gets a lift from a mysterious woman. Almost 20 years later, in 1991, the tent murders at Lobberån are still affecting the people of Svartvattnet.
