After Nick calms Taylor down, she tells Nick that he needs to get rid of the box of Brooke memorabilia. As he takes the box away, a CD containing the song that Nick had written to Brooke falls out unbeknownst to him. Taylor then intercepts a text message from Brooke to Nick. After failing to convince his mother to consider reuniting with Nick, Rick decides to talk to Nick directly. Taylor later confronts Brooke about the text message that she sent to Nick and tells Brooke to stop interfering. Brooke assures Taylor that she has no intentions towards Nick, but admits that she does feel connected to Jack and the need to protect him.
