After some encouragement by Sharon, Dennis finally goes to find Zoë. During a heart to heart, Zoë declares her love for Dennis and he eventually reveals his true feelings. Meanwhile, Pauline and Dot's friendship looks bleak after the pair have a bitter row; Lynne tells Garry the sex of their baby; and a petty row with a punter leaves Ian with a new member of staff at the café. Everyone is happily enjoying the celebrations at the fair, unaware that disaster is about to strike. Spencer, realising that Alfie has left, panics and tries desperately to contact him.
