When Dr. Abel comes out to tell Ethan that they lost 'her', he automatically assumes he means Gwen. As a destroyed Ethan wonders how he will raise his child without it's mother, Theresa interrupts to tell him they will raise the baby together. Ethan looks at her like he doesn't even know her and tells her that Gwen and the baby are his family, not hers. For the first time Ethan has realised how much he loves Gwen, and now he has lost her. Dr. Abel soon corrects Ethan...it wasn't Gwen they lost, but her daughter. Ethan is relieved his wife is still alive as he couldn't stand to lose her, but heartbroken to know his baby girl is dead.
