Emily is upset that her engagement ring has been stolen. Brian wishes that he could see more of Nicky but doesn't want to beg favours from Gail. Emily celebrates her birthday. She arranges to go out with Mavis but Mavis cancels in order to go out with Derek. Emily is annoyed. Derek takes Mavis for a meal. She enjoys meeting him in secret and gets drunk.
